Save the Children
Educate yourself on how to end child hunger in Vietnam.
Malnutrition affects nearly one-in-five children under the age of five in Vietnam (UNICEF). One in three children in Vietnam suffer from stunting, while one in five are underweight. According to the Persistent Nutrition in Ethnic Minority Communities of Vietnam: Issues and Options or Policy and Interventions, only 39 percent of children aged 6-23 months receive a nutritionally adequate diet. Meanwhile, just 32.7 percent of mothers aged 15-49 made prenatal care visits whereby they were
provided with essential vitamins and minerals, and nutrition counseling.
Nutrition is essential to healthy child development. But in some rural areas of Vietnam, such as Quang Tri, Thua Thien-Hue, and An Giang, the number of malnourished children is high. A lack of knowledge about nutrition and a shortage of nourishing foods contribute to the prevalence of this life-altering condition, and nonprofit organizations like such as Ăn Chưa? (Have You Eaten Yet?) are uniquely poised to provide assistance.
Focus
Ăn Chưa? focuses on the rural provinces of Quang Tri, Thua Thien-Hue, and An Giang. As mentioned above, these three rural areas lack the most resources and have the highest child malnutrition rate among the country. In the future, and with your great contributions, Ăn Chưa? hope to gain the resources to expand the program so that we can help all children of Vietnam.
Take Action
To combat child hunger in Vietnam, Ăn Chưa? has been working relentlessly with individuals all around the world to help improve the nutrition of children in rural Vietnam. Any contributions made to the program is greatly appreciated as a donation as little as one dollar could go a long way to saving a child from hunger.
